About Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in Israel
Senat is sponsored by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung as a
part of its activities aiming at providing expertise on

the political arena.
The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is a non-profit
organisation with ideological roots in the German and
international labour movement. Out of a profound commitment
to social justice and peaceful coexistence both within
societies and between nations, the FES office in Israel
contributes to:
|
 |

* Improving labour relations
* Working for gender equality and women's empowerment
* Democracy education for youth
* Applied socio-economic research
The FES uses a variety of methods and tools to promote
these causes, including:
* Conferences, seminars and workshops on national and
international issues
* Leadership training
* Research and expertise
* Political consulting
* Exchange programs and study visits
Israeli-German Relations
The FES Israel office, one of 70 representations
world-wide, occupies a particularly important position. The
legacy of the Holocaust makes it vital not only to study
and debate the most tragic period in European history; it
also requires exchange and dialogue on many different
levels between German and Israeli societies. Dedicated to
the values of the Labour Movement and Social Democracy, FES
has for ever 30 years sought to foster co-operation between
the civil societies of both countries. Special importance
is attached to facilitating dialogue and exchange between
Israeli Knesset Members and parliamentarians of the German
Social Democratic Party (SPD).
In addition, the FES operates as a think-tank by:
* Providing key Israeli and German decision-makers with
political analysis on current issues
* Organising seminars and lectures about Germany in Israel
and about Israel in Germany
* Facilitating exchange programs, with special attention
to young people, tomorrow's decision-makers
